Overview

Time for a mid-year update of your activity tracking! Keeping current records makes everything easier later.

What to Update

For Each Activity

• Current hours per week
• Total hours this year
• New responsibilities or roles
• Achievements or recognition
• Changes in involvement level

New Information to Add

• Activities you've joined since last update
• Activities you've dropped
• Awards or recognition received
• Leadership positions gained

Questions to Ask Yourself

• What have I accomplished this semester?
• Have my responsibilities changed?
• What am I most proud of?
• What should I document?

Common Things to Forget

• Informal leadership (helping, mentoring)
• One-time events or competitions
• School service (helping teachers, etc.)
• Recognition that seemed minor

Format Reminder

For Common App, you'll need:

• 50 characters for position/title
• 150 characters for description
• Hours per week and weeks per year

Quick Update Process

1. Open your tracking document
2. Go through each activity
3. Update all fields
4. Add new activities
5. Note any achievements
6. Remove dropped activities

Set a Reminder

Update again:

• End of school year (May)
• End of summer (August)
