For California students, Cal Grant eligibility requires both FAFSA submission AND GPA verification from your school. This is a behind-the-scenes process, but worth confirming!
Most California high schools electronically submit student GPAs to the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC). Juniors can opt-in to have their GPA submitted early.
GPA must be submitted by March 2, 2026 along with FAFSA/California Dream Act.
| Type | GPA Required | Annual Award | |------|--------------|--------------| | Cal Grant A | 3.0+ | Up to $13,752 (UC) or $5,742 (CSU) | | Cal Grant B | 2.0+ | Living allowance + tuition (years 2-4) |
This is primarily a parent/counselor task, but it's good to know it's happening!
