UC and CSU require completion of 15 year-long courses across seven subject areas (called "A-G requirements"). Making sure you're on track now helps avoid surprises later.
| Category | Subject | Years Required | |----------|---------|----------------| | A | History/Social Science | 2 | | B | English | 4 | | C | Mathematics | 3 (through Algebra II) | | D | Laboratory Science | 2 | | E | Language Other Than English | 2 (same language) | | F | Visual & Performing Arts | 1 | | G | College-Prep Elective | 1 |
You'll need at least 11 of 15 A-G courses completed by the end of junior year. If you're behind, don't worry — talk to your counselor about options like summer school or online courses.
