The PSAT 8/9 is designed for freshmen and is completely low-stakes. Think of it as a friendly introduction to standardized testing!

What Is the PSAT 8/9?

  • Practice test for 8th and 9th graders
  • Same format as SAT but slightly easier content
  • Does NOT count for National Merit (that's junior year)
  • Scores don't go to colleges
