Complete remaining interviews

Overview

Alumni interviews continue through February and early March. Complete any remaining interviews with the same preparation and professionalism as January interviews.

Who Still Has Interviews in February

• Schools that contact a high volume of applicants (Harvard, Yale)
• Schools with capacity-limited alumni networks (some regions have fewer alumni)
• Late-scheduled interviews due to holidays or conflicts

Late Interview Strategy

• Treat it with the same seriousness as early-scheduled interviews
• Some alumni interviewers submit reports right up to decision day
• A strong late interview can still move the needle

Preparation

• Re-read your application (especially if you've forgotten specifics)
• Know the college's recent news
• Have 3-5 thoughtful questions ready
• Update on any achievements since submitting

Updates You Can Share

• First-semester senior grades (if strong)
• Recent awards
• New leadership roles
• Completed research or projects
• Science fair, debate, or competition results

Virtual vs. In-Person

Most February interviews are virtual:

• Test your Zoom/video setup
• Professional background
• Business casual attire
• Reliable internet

Thank-You Notes

• Send within 24-48 hours
• Reference specific conversation points
• Express continued interest in the school

Waitlist-Era Interviews

Some schools conduct interviews during waitlist consideration (April-May):

• Shorter, more focused
• Emphasize continued interest
• Prepare specific updates since original application

If You're Offered an Interview After Application

Even if late:

• Accept and engage professionally
• A late interview means they're still reviewing your file actively
• Give it your best preparation

If Interview Feedback Was Mixed

• No action needed - decisions are made by admissions committees, not interviewers alone
• Focus on what you can control
• Continue strong academic performance

Follow-Up Communications

If the interviewer mentioned:

• A specific resource: follow up with a reference
• A specific club or program: mention in your thank-you
• A specific professor: can mention you looked them up (if genuine interest)

Parents

Parents don't email the interviewer. Parents don't attend. Full stop.
