Overview

March 2 is the hard deadline for California state aid programs. Confirm FAFSA/CADAA submission AND GPA verification are both complete.

The Two Required Components

1. FAFSA or CADAA

  • Submitted by March 2
  • FAFSA for U.S. citizens, residents, eligible non-citizens
  • CADAA for undocumented, DACA, AB 540 students

2. GPA Verification

  • Submitted by your high school to CSAC
  • Based on 10th-11th grade transcript
  • Your high school handles this

How to Verify

Ask your counselor in writing: "Has my GPA been verified to CSAC?"

Cal Grant Awards

  • Cal Grant A: Up to $14,436/yr UC, $6,082/yr CSU, $9,638/yr CA private
  • Cal Grant B: Similar tuition + stipend ($1,648+ access award)
  • Cal Grant C: CTE at CCC

Eligibility (2025-26)

  • Cal Grant A: 3.0+ GPA, family income <$134,200 (family of 4)
  • Cal Grant B: 2.0+ GPA, family income <$68,800 (family of 4)

Dream Act

Same March 2 deadline. Qualifies for same Cal Grant awards. In-state tuition via AB 540.

Middle Class Scholarship (UC/CSU)

Automatic with FAFSA/CADAA completion. Income up to ~$201,000 (family of 4).

If You Missed March 2

  • File FAFSA anyway (federal aid available)
  • Ask school to submit GPA immediately

CCC Special Deadline

Community college Cal Grant deadline extends to September 2.

Award Notification

Cal Grant award arrives May-June. Automatically renews with FAFSA/CADAA.
