Overview

UC decisions are released in two waves in March. UC San Diego and UC Irvine typically go first in mid-March; UC Berkeley, UCLA, and UC Davis follow in late March.

  • UC Merced, Santa Cruz, Riverside: Mid-to-late March
  • UC San Diego, UC Irvine: Mid-March

Decision Types

  • Admitted: Full admission
  • Waitlisted: Offered a waitlist spot
  • Admitted to second-choice major: Primary major impacted
  • Denied: Not admitted

After Admission

  1. Review financial aid package (1-2 weeks out)
  2. Compare campuses if admitted to multiple
  3. Attend Admitted Student Day
  4. Do NOT commit before comparing all offers
  5. Statement of Intent to Register (SIR) due May 1

After Waitlist

  1. Accept spot via portal by deadline
  2. Send Letter of Continued Interest if a true top choice
  3. Commit to another school by May 1
  4. Waitlist movement typically May-July

Major Changes

After admission, most UCs allow major changes during orientation.

Financial Aid Timing

For students who submitted FAFSA/CADAA by March 2: late March-early April packages.
