Summer is an excellent time to visit colleges. Seeing campuses in person (or virtually) helps you understand what fits!

Planning Your Visits

How Many to Visit?

Aim for 2-4 campuses this summer. Quality of visits matters more than quantity.

Which Schools to Prioritize

• Nearby schools (easy to get to)
• Different types (large vs. small, urban vs. rural)
• Schools you're seriously considering
• Schools you're unsure about (visits can clarify!)

Scheduling Visits

What to Sign Up For

• Campus tour: Walking tour led by current student
• Information session: Presentation by admissions
• Class visit: Sit in on an actual class (when available)

Finding Visit Options

• Check each school's admissions website
• Sign up 2-4 weeks in advance
• Look for virtual options too

During Your Visit

Pay Attention To

• Campus feel and atmosphere
• Student interactions
• Facilities (dorms, dining, library, labs)
• Surrounding area
• Can you see yourself here?

Questions to Ask

• What do students like most/least?
• What kind of student thrives here?
• What support services exist?
• What's housing like?

After Each Visit

• Write down impressions immediately
• Rate the school on your priorities
• Note specific things you liked/disliked
• Compare to other schools you've seen

If You Can't Visit

Virtual tours, YouTube videos, and online info sessions are great alternatives!
