If you're enrolled in AP courses, exams are typically in the first two weeks of May. You've got this!

Before the Exam

The Week Before

  • Review key concepts and terms
  • Take practice tests under timed conditions
  • Focus on your weakest areas
  • Get good sleep every night

The Night Before

  • Light review only - no cramming!
  • Prepare everything you need
  • Get 8+ hours of sleep
  • Eat a good dinner

Day of the Exam

  • Eat a healthy breakfast
  • Arrive 15-20 minutes early
  • Bring ID, pencils, pens, calculator (if allowed)
  • Stay calm and confident

During the Exam

Multiple Choice

  • Pace yourself
  • Skip and return to hard questions
  • Guess if unsure (no penalty!)
  • Trust your preparation

Free Response

  • Read prompts carefully
  • Outline before writing
  • Address all parts of the question
  • Manage your time across questions

After the Exam

  • Don't obsess about how you did
  • Celebrate completing it!
  • Focus on remaining exams
  • Scores come in early July

Score Expectations

  • 3 = Passing, may earn college credit
  • 4 = Well qualified, credit at most colleges
  • 5 = Extremely well qualified, credit nearly everywhere
