Georgetown: the complete school report for parents
Georgetown rates 8 of the 18 admission factors Very Important, among them course rigor, GPA and test scores. This is a genuinely holistic review. It does not consider demonstrated interest, so campus visits and emails will not move the decision. Georgetown admits between 1 in 10 and 1 in 4 applicants, and a strong test score is close to expected. Major matters more than the name on the diploma here: five years out, Accounting and Related Services graduates earn a median $165,279 against $57,169 for Sociology.
Georgetown is officially Georgetown University, also known as GU or Georgetown U. Admissions figures below come from its 2025-2026 Common Data Set (see the source), with the admission-factor grid re-read from that file on 2026-10-21.

What’s new at Georgetown for 2026-27
Georgetown now accepts the Common App. Starting in August 2026 for students entering in fall 2027, Georgetown is running a three-year pilot that lets applicants use either the Common Application or its own Georgetown Application. Admissions standards do not change, and SAT or ACT scores are still required. All applicants still complete four Georgetown essays (two short, two long), and the Common App personal statement is not required. Early Action (non-binding) is due 1 November and Regular Decision 1 January.
