Daniels Scholarship Program
Offered by Daniels Fund · Free to apply
The Daniels Scholarship is a four-year award for graduating seniors in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming, selected on character, leadership, academics and financial need. At partner institutions the Daniels Fund and the college combine to cover up to the full cost of attendance. At non-partner schools outside the four-state region the award reaches $25,000 a year, capped at $100,000 over four years, and inside the region it is capped at $30,000 over four years. The fund named 205 scholars in its 2026 class, 150 of them from Colorado. For a family in these four states this is a materially better bet than most national awards.

What drives the odds here
Odds on a scholarship are mostly a question of how many students can enter. Each rule below changes the size of that field.
- Fewer rivalsLimited to 4 states
- Fewer rivalsAn essay is required, which filters out casual applicants
- Fewer rivalsRecommendation letters are required, a step many applicants skip
- Fewer rivalsAn official transcript is required
- Fewer rivalsOpen to a single grade level only
- More rivalsA large award draws far more applicants
How Solyo estimates this: We model the applicant field from how narrow the eligibility rules are, then divide the awards available by that field. Requirements such as essays and recommendation letters improve a serious applicant’s odds, because most browsers never complete them. These are estimates derived from each award's published structure, not reported acceptance rates, which almost no scholarship provider discloses. Treat them as a way to rank where the hours go, not as a guarantee.
