Maryland Delegate Scholarship
Offered by Maryland Higher Education Commission (MHEC) · Free to apply
Every member of the Maryland House of Delegates awards scholarship money to residents of their own legislative district, and high school seniors are explicitly eligible. Awards for 2026-27 run from $200 to $14,086 and can be used full time or part time at a Maryland two-year or four-year college, university, or private career school. Each delegate sets their own application and deadline, so families contact their district's delegates directly. Some delegates ask MHEC to pick recipients for them; in that case the student is considered on financial need, and the FAFSA (or MHEC One App for undocumented students eligible for in-state tuition) must be filed by March 1. The award is not renewable; students reapply each year. Out-of-state use is allowed only for unique majors with the legislator's agreement.

How Solyo estimates this: State programs that allocate by published formula are modelled on qualification and filing, not on competition, because there is no selection committee choosing between applicants. These are estimates derived from each award's published structure, not reported acceptance rates, which almost no scholarship provider discloses. Treat them as a way to rank where the hours go, not as a guarantee.
