Wisconsin Technical Excellence Scholarship
Offered by Wisconsin Higher Educational Aids Board (HEAB) · Free to apply
The Wisconsin Technical Excellence Scholarship honors high school seniors with the strongest proficiency in technical education subjects, the career and technical counterpart of the state's Academic Excellence Scholarship. It is worth up to $2,250 a year toward tuition for six semesters, and it can only be used at a Wisconsin Technical College System college. Students do not apply. Each public and private high school nominates its recipients through HEAB's GLASS system based on state criteria, and the number of scholarships a school can name depends on its enrollment. Recipients must enroll full time and stay continuously enrolled from term to term to keep it. Because the school makes the nomination in late winter of senior year, a student interested in a technical college path should tell the counselor early and make sure technical coursework and credentials appear on the record. The 2026 nomination window ran February 18 to March 13, 2026.

What drives the odds here
Odds on a scholarship are mostly a question of how many students can enter. Each rule below changes the size of that field.
- Fewer rivalsOpen only to Wisconsin residents
- Fewer rivalsRestricted to specific intended majors
- Fewer rivalsOpen to a single grade level only
How Solyo estimates this: We model the applicant field from how narrow the eligibility rules are, then divide the awards available by that field. Requirements such as essays and recommendation letters improve a serious applicant’s odds, because most browsers never complete them. These are estimates derived from each award's published structure, not reported acceptance rates, which almost no scholarship provider discloses. Treat them as a way to rank where the hours go, not as a guarantee.
