Overview

Your AP scores are released. Now send them to your committed college so they're in your file before orientation in August. You get one free score send to any college during exam registration; additional sends cost $15 each. Electronic sending takes 24 hours; mailed official report takes 2 weeks. Since orientation is coming, send electronically ASAP.

Action Steps

1. Determine Free vs. Paid Send

   • When you registered for AP exams, you could designate one free score recipient
   • Did you select your college for free send? If yes, scores are automatically sent (already done)
   • If no free send used, or sending to additional colleges: You'll pay $15/college

2. Log Into College Board

   • Go to collegeboard.org
   • Sign in with your account
   • Navigate: "My Account" → "Order Reports" → "Send AP Score Reports"

3. Select College Recipient

   • Search for your college by name
   • Example: Search "University of Michigan"
   • Select the main campus (not satellite campus unless applicable)
   • College Board asks for contact info (admissions office address already populated)

4. Choose Sending Method

   • Electronic Send: Fastest (24 hours), most reliable. Costs $15 (or free if your first send).
   • Mailed Official Report: 2-3 weeks, paper copy. Costs $15 (or free if your first send).
   • Recommendation: Use electronic send (faster; college receives before orientation)

5. Select Scores to Send

   • Check box next to exam(s) you want to send
   • Only send if score meets college's minimum (typically 3+)
   • Don't send 1-2 scores; it looks weak
   • Pro tip: Reviewing AP policy again? Confirm minimum score before sending

6. Review & Pay

   • Confirm all details: College name, scores, sending method
   • Payment: Credit/debit card (charged $15 per score report if not free send)
   • Complete purchase

7. Confirm Transmission

   • College Board displays: "Report sent on [date]"
   • Save/screenshot confirmation
   • Keep record of date sent

8. Verify Receipt at College

   • After 1-2 business days (electronic) or 2-3 weeks (mail)
   • Log into college portal
   • Find: "Admissions" → "View my records" or "Documents on File"
   • Confirm AP scores appear
   • If missing after 2 weeks, email admissions: "I sent AP [exam] score on [date]. Can you confirm receipt?"

9. What College Does with AP Scores

   • Admissions office routes to registrar
   • Registrar applies credit/exemption per college's AP policy
   • Credit appears on your transcript in August/September
   • You see it in student portal under "Degree Progress" or "Credit Applied"
