CCSNH SkillsUSA Competition Scholarship: Real Odds

The Community College System of New Hampshire awards a $5,000 tuition scholarship to the first-place winner in each category of the SkillsUSA competition who enrolls in a related CCSNH program, provided at least five students competed in that category. Winners from other states can also receive it with official documentation. The scholarship must be used in the academic year after high school graduation, toward a program related to the competition skill area, and a two-time winner receives two $5,000 scholarships for the two following years. It rewards demonstrated technical skill rather than grades, making it a strong option for career and technical education students.

What drives the odds here

Odds on a scholarship are mostly a question of how many students can enter. Each rule below changes the size of that field.

Fewer rivalsOpen only to New Hampshire residents
Fewer rivalsRestricted to specific intended majors

How Solyo estimates this: We model the applicant field from how narrow the eligibility rules are, then divide the awards available by that field. Requirements such as essays and recommendation letters improve a serious applicant’s odds, because most browsers never complete them. These are estimates derived from each award's published structure, not reported acceptance rates, which almost no scholarship provider discloses. Treat them as a way to rank where the hours go, not as a guarantee.
