Nebraska Waiver of Tuition for Veterans' Dependents
Offered by Nebraska Department of Veterans' Affairs · Free to apply
Nebraska waives 100% of tuition and tuition-related fees at University of Nebraska campuses, Nebraska state colleges and community colleges for children, stepchildren and spouses of veterans who are rated 100% permanently and totally disabled from military service, died of a service-connected disability, died after discharge from an injury or illness sustained in service, or were declared missing in action or a prisoner of war. Children remain eligible until they earn a bachelor's degree or turn 26. The waiver covers one community college credential and one bachelor's degree but not housing, food, books or non-tuition fees. Students must be Nebraska residents eligible for in-state tuition and apply to the Department of Veterans' Affairs before each term begins.

What drives the odds here
Odds on a scholarship are mostly a question of how many students can enter. Each rule below changes the size of that field.
- Fewer rivalsOpen only to Nebraska residents
- Fewer rivalsRequires a military or national-service connection
How Solyo estimates this: We model the applicant field from how narrow the eligibility rules are, then divide the awards available by that field. Requirements such as essays and recommendation letters improve a serious applicant’s odds, because most browsers never complete them. These are estimates derived from each award's published structure, not reported acceptance rates, which almost no scholarship provider discloses. Treat them as a way to rank where the hours go, not as a guarantee.
