Massachusetts Tomorrow's Teachers Scholarship
Offered by Massachusetts Department of Higher Education, Office of Student Financial Assistance · Free to apply
Tomorrow's Teachers pays up to $25,000 a year toward the full cost of attendance for students who enroll full time in a bachelor's program (or post-baccalaureate licensure program) leading to a Massachusetts public school teaching license. It aims to ease the teacher shortage, particularly among teachers of color. It is a service scholarship: each year of full-time teaching in a Massachusetts public school forgives one year of aid, and if the service is not completed the scholarship becomes a loan to repay. Applicants file the FAFSA or MASFA, apply online in MASSAid and sign a promissory note each year. Recipients are chosen after the deadline; for 2026-27 the deadline is November 20, 2026. It cannot be combined with other state workforce scholarships.

What drives the odds here
Odds on a scholarship are mostly a question of how many students can enter. Each rule below changes the size of that field.
- Fewer rivalsOpen only to Massachusetts residents
- Fewer rivalsRestricted to specific intended majors
- More rivalsA large award draws far more applicants
How Solyo estimates this: We model the applicant field from how narrow the eligibility rules are, then divide the awards available by that field. Requirements such as essays and recommendation letters improve a serious applicant’s odds, because most browsers never complete them. These are estimates derived from each award's published structure, not reported acceptance rates, which almost no scholarship provider discloses. Treat them as a way to rank where the hours go, not as a guarantee.
