Nebraska Career Scholarship (Private Colleges)
Offered by Nebraska's Coordinating Commission for Postsecondary Education · Free to apply
At participating Nebraska private colleges, the state-funded Nebraska Career Scholarship pays up to $10,000 a year toward tuition, fees, tools and equipment, and room and board for students in eligible high-demand programs such as computer information systems and other listed fields. Applicants need an ACT of 18 (or equivalent) or a 3.0 high school GPA, must live in Nebraska while receiving the award (out-of-state recruits may qualify), and must meet the college's own criteria. Each private college selects recipients and handles applications, so students apply through the college. The award is renewable. Separate Nebraska Career Scholarships also exist at the University of Nebraska and state colleges, run by those campuses.

What drives the odds here
Odds on a scholarship are mostly a question of how many students can enter. Each rule below changes the size of that field.
- Fewer rivalsOpen only to Nebraska residents
- Fewer rivalsRestricted to specific intended majors
- Fewer rivalsRequires a minimum test score
- More rivalsA five-figure award attracts a bigger field
How Solyo estimates this: We model the applicant field from how narrow the eligibility rules are, then divide the awards available by that field. Requirements such as essays and recommendation letters improve a serious applicant’s odds, because most browsers never complete them. These are estimates derived from each award's published structure, not reported acceptance rates, which almost no scholarship provider discloses. Treat them as a way to rank where the hours go, not as a guarantee.
