Qualifying South Dakota graduates who stay in state collect $7,500 across four years, paid as $1,500 for each of the first three years and $3,000 in the fourth. Two routes qualify you: a 24 ACT with a 3.0 unweighted GPA and the approved curriculum with no grade below C, or a 28 ACT on its own, which waives the GPA and curriculum checks (the class of 2027 and later also needs minimum subscores on that route). This is not a competition, so students who meet the criteria and file generally receive it, but you do have to file: applications go through the Board of Regents scholarship portal, not the FAFSA. Fall starters are urged to apply by June 1 and must apply by September 1; spring starters have a November 1 preferred date and a January 15 cutoff.
