CSU Impaction Explained
Some CSU majors/campuses are "impacted," meaning demand exceeds capacity.
- If major is impacted: Only top applicants admitted to that major
- Solution: Apply to alternate major at same campus (different acceptance rate)
Example:
- Want Computer Science at Pomona (impacted)
- Instead: Apply to CS at San Luis Obispo (target-level rigor)
- Apply to Computer Information Systems at Pomona as alternate (less impacted)
