Freshmen at South Carolina four-year colleges who graduate with a 3.0 GPA on the state Uniform Grading Policy but miss the cutoffs for Palmetto Fellows and LIFE can pick up to $2,800, including a $300 book allowance, for their first year. There is nothing to fill out: the college checks your final official high school transcript, decides eligibility, and notifies you. The money covers two semesters only and does not renew, though students who hit the LIFE benchmarks in college move onto that award for later years. Because timing depends on the college receiving that final transcript, confirm with its financial aid office that your school sent it and ask when state awards post. Only one of HOPE, LIFE, and Palmetto Fellows can be held at a time.
