University of North Georgia ROTC Grant
Offered by Georgia Student Finance Commission · Free to apply
The University of North Georgia ROTC Grant is a state-funded award for Georgia residents who enroll full time at UNG, one of the country's six senior military colleges, and fully participate in its Corps of Cadets ROTC program. The base ROTC Grant pays up to $1,500 a year ($750 each in fall and spring). Students who sign a contract to accept a commission as an Army officer can instead receive the ROTC Grant for Future Officers, worth up to $4,000 a year ($2,000 a semester); that contract must be signed by the end of junior year. A student cannot receive both in the same term. Recipients must be US citizens or eligible permanent residents, maintain satisfactory progress and meet Selective Service rules. The college checks each term that the student is in uniform, attending drills and classes. To apply, students submit the grant application form to UNG's financial aid office, which certifies it; UNG sets the deadline.

What drives the odds here
Odds on a scholarship are mostly a question of how many students can enter. Each rule below changes the size of that field.
- Fewer rivalsOpen only to Georgia residents
- Fewer rivalsRequires a military or national-service connection
- Fewer rivalsOpen to a single grade level only
How Solyo estimates this: We model the applicant field from how narrow the eligibility rules are, then divide the awards available by that field. Requirements such as essays and recommendation letters improve a serious applicant’s odds, because most browsers never complete them. These are estimates derived from each award's published structure, not reported acceptance rates, which almost no scholarship provider discloses. Treat them as a way to rank where the hours go, not as a guarantee.
