Idaho Armed Forces and Public Safety Officer Dependent Scholarship
Offered by Idaho State Board of Education · Free to apply
Idaho's Armed Forces and Public Safety Officer Dependent Scholarship, set in Idaho Code Title 33, Chapter 43, waives tuition and fees and adds up to $750 a semester for books, plus on-campus housing and subsistence, for Idaho undergraduates who are the children or spouses of fallen or disabled service members and public safety officers. It covers families of Idaho residents who were prisoners of war, missing in action, killed, or totally and permanently disabled in the line of duty, including service members stationed in Idaho and deployed from the state to an armed conflict, and Idaho firefighters, peace officers, paramedics and EMTs killed or disabled on duty since 1975. Applicants must graduate from an Idaho high school, home school or Idaho GED and attend an eligible Idaho college. For military disability, the determination must come from the Social Security Administration (or VA individual unemployability), and for public safety officers from PERSI, dated within five years. Students apply through the Scholarship Idaho general application, and the program is open year-round.

How Solyo estimates this: We model the applicant field from how narrow the eligibility rules are, then divide the awards available by that field. Requirements such as essays and recommendation letters improve a serious applicant’s odds, because most browsers never complete them. These are estimates derived from each award's published structure, not reported acceptance rates, which almost no scholarship provider discloses. Treat them as a way to rank where the hours go, not as a guarantee.
